Maten Al Mensajero is a magazine that combines old genres from literature, photography, comics and poetry, revamped by modern authors and in a vision that matches today’s world. That is why, conceiving this magazine took reminiscences from old printed media, symbols and ideas, and gave it a modern representation.
The goal was to achieve something that felt old and new, to invite readers and curious people to dive into the content. With episodic tales, short tales, episodic comics and curated photography and poetry, the magazine needed high quality design to match the high quality of the content. The magazine was originally printed only in two colors: cyan and black. The middle photography section was full color, and later, with the addition of the poetry section, a third color (a percentage of magenta) was implemented for it.
A combination of a sans-serif typography Itc Avant Garde and a serif elegant typograpy Sabon, and some crafted monograms and symbols gave the publication a strong identity that stood out from other magazines in shops and kiosks.
